One of the critical roles of an effective Board is to provide oversight, contribute to the 
strategic direction of the business/ organization, ensure compliance to statutory 
obligations, and business sustainability and represent the interests of an organization at a 
strategic level. To do this one of the key skills required of a Board member is to 
understand how to read and interpret financial statements. This course therefore will cover
 financial statements, explore the role of a Board member, how to select, induct, and 
evaluate Board members, and circumstances that would inform the exit of a Board member.
